By the time you read this, MMC Dinner Theater’s Bandstand USA will be history. I want to thank everyone who made it a success. We performed before sell-out crowds each night. Once again we had a marvelous cast of volunteer performers aided by a great production crew composed of staff members who gave above and beyond their normal duties. Thanks are also due to Chef Victor Hendricks and his terrific kitchen staff for providing a delicious meal for all three performances. Lastly, we couldn’t have done this without those who supported the show by purchasing tickets. Our shows are an important fundraising opportunity for the Center and money raised supports programs for older adults.
June also saw another successful Community Education and Health Fair. Kudos to our Nutrition Director Jaime Sherman for a great event. We had seventy exhibitors and more than 450 visitors of all ages attend.
Warm weather seems to slow down everyone except the drivers in our parking lot. Our speed limit is posted at 5 mph. It is also important for everyone to obey the traffic pattern signs. Our aisles are laid out to accommodate cars going in one direction, so we ask that you do not pull through parking spaces on the next aisle. When you do this and then pull out to leave you are facing the wrong direction and run an increased risk of damaging nearby cars. Please be considerate of others and obey the speed and right of way signs.
Over the next few months we are installing new chillers for our food operation. This has resulted in a temporary loss of some parking spaces near the kitchen. We apologize for any inconvenience while we make improvements to serve you better. Keep in mind that we offer a shuttle golf cart to transport you from your car to the entrance.
For those who arrive early at the Center to enjoy the air conditioning, be sure to stop by and see Craig Banks at the Snack Bar. He can whip you up a great breakfast, snack or lunch for a good price. He offers great salads and sandwiches in addition to eggs, hotcakes and other great treats.
The MMC is always looking for ways to help improve the overall health and wellness of our members. That’s why we are pleased to announce that we are making available high-value dental and vision benefits to our membership! In addition to our other great member benefits, we want to help you and your families stay on top of your dental and vision care while saving significantly through our exclusive program with Dominion Dental Services, a leading provider and administrator of dental and vision benefits in our region.
Many seniors and retirees, in particular, have difficulty finding dental and vision coverage. Because you are a member of the MMC, you now have access to group-style dental and vision benefits.
Doctors are now emphasizing the importance of preventive dental and vision care as research shows that your dental and vision health can affect your overall wellbeing.
Preventive dental and vision care can help identify serious medical conditions, which when detected early can significantly reduce overall health care costs.
In fact, gum disease has been linked to oral cancer, heart disease, diabetes, respiratory ailments, pre-term birth, skin diseases, thyroid problems and leukemia.1, 2
A comprehensive eye exam can detect diabetes, high blood pressure, multiple sclerosis and even brain tumors.3
This is why dental and vision coverage have become two of the most-requested benefits after medical among employers.4
Please visit our website at www.modern-maturity.org or visit DominionDental.com/edental/modernmaturity for more information or to enroll today. We hope you will take advantage of this program and decrease the overall cost of health care for you and your family.
