Dancing


Register for dance classes at MMC Member Services. Call 302-734-1200 x167, Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 3 PM. Line dance classes are free for MMC Members


 



High Impact Line Dancing

High Impact line dance meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Palmer Room. It is free to MMC members. Get your blood flowing in this high impact class designed for intermediate and advanced level students. 

All Levels Line Dancing

All levels  line dance meets Wednesdays from 9:30 to 11 a.m. in the Palmer Room. It is free to MMC members. Learn the basic steps of this popular form of dance and gets lots of exercise. No partner needed! The first portion of the class is devoted to teaching the basic steps and simple dances for first time line dancers. Please alert the instrucor at the beginning of the class that you are new. 

Intermediate Line Dancing

Intermediate line dance meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in the Palmer Room. It is free to MMC members. Hone your dancing skills in this intermediate level class. Prior line dance experience is recommended. 

Advanced Line Dancing

Advanced line dance meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in the Palmer Room. It is free to MMC members. Learn new steps and share your passion for line dancing through practice and performance opportunities with the Steppin' Seniors advanced line dance class. Prior line dance experience required.

Couples Line Dancing

Couple's line dance meets Wednesdays from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. in the Palmer Room. It is free to MMC members. Grab a partner and become a line dancing duo. This class is intermediate level but beginners are welcome to join. Coming with a partner is ideal but is not necessary to join the class.

Soul Line Dancing

Soul line dance meets Wednesdays from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in the Palmer Room. It is free to MMC members. Dance with the Soulsations to the soul and R&B music you love. This is a low-moderate impact line dance experience.

Tap Dancing

Tap dancing will be back in February 2020!

Jazz Dance

Jazz dancing will be back in February 2020! 

Ballroom Dancing

Learn dances such as the Waltz, American Tango, Rumba and more at the MMCs ballroom dancing lessons! This is an enjoyable way to burn calories. After all, dancing isn’t just about the steps and music but the perfect combination of physical activity, social interaction, and mental stimulation.  This class is led by Ted and Yoshi Briggs. All skill levels are welcome. Classes are $5 for members and $10 for non-members (pay at the door).  All classes begin at 7 p.m.  Classes resume September 3 and will meet in the Palmer Room.

Broadway Style Dancing

Broadway style dancing will be back in February 2020! 

Hump Day - Evening Beginners Line Dancing

No partner needed for this line dance class. Come out and have fun getting your body moving.  Learn fun and easy-to-follow moves to some of the latest line dances such as the Temptations Cha-Cha, Wobble, Same Ole 2 Step, Cha Cha Slide, Electric Slide, Cupid Shuffle, Two Steps and many more. Line dancing is easy on the joints, a great workout and you can get up to 5,000 steps in one class. Bring water, a towel and wear comfortable clothes and shoes.  Instructor: Ida Poindexter Kirkendoll, owner of Forever Active Lifestyle and Leader of the First State Steppers.  Class begins Wednesday September 25 at 5:15.  Five week session is $25.00 for members and $35.00 for non-members.   Please register with Member Services at 734-1200, ext. 167
 

Hump Day - Evening Zumba

This is a fun workout for anyone, at any age, and at any fitness ability. This program is designed for the active adults that loves to dance. Enjoy this workout as you learn easy to follow dance moves including salsa, meringue, cha cha, and cumbia to some great music. Move that body while getting up to 5,000 steps in. Dancing is a great workout so bring water, a towel, comfortable clothes and safe shoes and meet great people.  Instructor Ida Poindexter Kirkendoll, owner of Forever Active Lifestyle and certified Zumba instructor.  Class begins Wednesday September 25 at 6:00.  Five week session is $25.00 for members and $35.00 for non-members.   Please register with Member Services at 734-1200, ext. 167
 

Hump Day - Evening Yoga with Tula Yoga and Reiki Professionals

Join Cristina & Anoma from Tula Yoga and Reiki Professionals for our Wednesday evening yoga class. Class is from 6:00 - 7:00 in the West Conference Room.   Improve your flexibility, increase your strength while reducing your stress.  The cost is $15.00 per class.  Classes begin Wednesday September 25.  Please register with Member Services at 734-1200 ext. 167.  Namaste!
