Book Club

 Do you love to read? Are you a bookworm? Would you like to discuss your thoughts, reactions and opinions of books with other book lovers? If you answered "yes" to any of these then the MMC book club has a place for you! Meetings are held the last Thursday of the month from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. in Activity Room #1.The Book Club will meet December 29.  The group will be reading “ Siracusa” by Delia Ephron.  Call Lori at 734-1200 ext. 129 to reserve a copy of the book.


Glee Club

Harmonize with us on the old songs you know and love. The Modern Melody Makers meet each Thursday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the MMC Longwood Room.  Please note that the group begins at 10 on the second Thursday of each month for Birthday day and performs on-site at Daybreak on the third Thursday of each month instead of the dining room.  
Any MMC member who enjoys singing and music is invited to join this group at any time – including instrumentalists.  . 

MMC Singles

MMC Singles Group  Meet and Greet: Are you lonely? The MMC Singles group is a great way for you to get active and stay social. They meet the dirst Wednesday fof the month in the West Conference Room ,   Drop in or call Carol Roll-Hendersot at 302-632-3329. 

Pump Up Your Brain

Pump Up Your Brain: This exciting brain exercise is designed to keep older adult’s brains sharp and healthy. Participants engage in brain teasers, puzzles, and visual illusions. Take home hand-outs are available to exercise your brain at home! This group will meet on Fridays from 1 to 2:30 p.m. in Activity Room #1 . FREE TO MMC MEMBERS! 
There is a nominal printing fee charged in class to cover the cost of printing materials. Please note this class is designed for members who can engage in independent learning.

PUSH - Pray Until Something Happens

P.U.S.H. Is a group that comes together to pray for our communities, our nation and one another.
The group also studies the Bible to learn how to strategically and effectively intercede in prayer.
The group led by Minister Myra McNair meets every Friday from 9 to 9:45 a.m. in Activity Room #1.
All are welcome.

Quilters - Forrest Avenue Quilters

The Forrest Avenue Quilters meet on Wednesdays from 9:00  a.m. until 12:00 p.m.  in Activity Room #1.  This is not a structured class but independent quilting with guidance. The Forrest Ave Quilters work on several charitable projects each year and also submit a group quilt to the Delaware State Fair. 

Twisted Stitchers

Looking for a fun activity that gives back to the community at the same time? The Twisted Stitchers are a charity knit and crochet group to work and learn together. The group connects projects with various charities in the community including Bayhealth, The Veterans Home and Code Purple. You can receive volunteer hours for the work you do! This group is FREE to members of the MMC.  They meet every Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in Acitivity Room #8. 

Visually Impaired Support Group

The ACE (Advocacy, Consulting and Education) Visually Impaired Support Group: 
Darryl Garner leads this monthly visually impaired support group meeting. Come out to the center on the third Tuesday of each month from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in Activity Room #7.  The group also, meets every Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to noon in Activity Room #7.  The meetings are free and no sign up is required. 


 Do you love trains!  Come join the Delaware Train Guys for an introduction to model railroad switching operations.  Learn model railroad switching operations through a game or puzzle that requires a thought process much like chess or checkers.  All materials will be provided and it’s FREE for MMC members.  The group will meet every Wednesday from 11:30 to 1:30 for six weeks beginning November 2 in Activity Room #5.  Maximum of 12 participants.  Please register with Member Services.
