All Art Tuesdays

All Art Tuesdays  is taking a break for the summer and will return in October. 
Join artist/instructor Phyllis Shier at her bi-weekly art classes focused on oils and featuring wet on wet technique.   Acrylic painters welcome.  Phyllis has taught art to all ages in various venues.  This class is fun and relaxed. Beginners welcome!  Classes are held the second and fourth Tuesday of the month from 10 a.m. to noon in Activity Room #1.  Learn a new painting the first week of the month.  The first class of the month begins new instruction on a specific painting. The second class takes that same painting and helps it come alive as a finished piece.  The cost is $10 per class for MMC members or purchase an art card for $60 for 6 classes. The cost for non-members is $15 per class.   Students must provide their own supplies.    Class size is limited to 6 students.  Sign up at Member Services.

Book Club


 Do you love to read? Have you been called a bookworm? Would you like to discuss your thoughts, reactions and opinions of books with other book lovers? If you answered "yes" to any of these then the MMC book club has a place for you! Meetings are held the last Thursday of the month from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. in Activity Room #1. Call Lori Christiansen at 302-734-1200 ext 129 to reserve a book.  
The book for June is "The Glass Hotel" by Emily St. Jon Mandel. .
The group will read "The Vanishing Half" by Britt Bennett in July.  

Computer Tutor

 Our computer tutor teaches the basics (what type of computer to purchase, general orientation, internet use, antivirus), communication programs (email, Skype, Facebook) and  can  help you set up and operate an eBay or Craigslist account. Computer tutoring appointments are $10 an hour for members or $25 an hour for non-members.   Tutoring is available on Tuesdays and Wednesdays between 9:00 a..m. and 12:00 p.m.  Contact Member Services to make an appointment.   Payment must be made in advance.   Refunds will not be issued with less than 24 hours cancellation notice

Conversational Italian

Conversational Italian Class -  Is on vacation and will be back in September!
 Learn the basics of Italian and get to know other Italian enthusiasts at the MMC. Giuliano “G” Gregoretti teaches this fun and free class on conversational Italian. Classes are free for MMC members and are held on Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to noon.in Activity Room #8.   Registration is not required.   

Elder Law Program

Programs at MMC will resume in 2021.   Please check back later!   
The Elder Law Program of the Delaware Community Legal Aid Society comes on-site to MMC once a month. Schedule a one-on-one appointment to draft powers of attorney and advance healthcare directives (not living wills). Appointments can be made for the second Wednesday of the month between 10:15 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. in Activity Room #6/chapel. Schedule a 45-minute appointment at Member Services by calling (302) 734-1200 ext. 167. Please note, all participants must be age 60 and over to qualify for this service.  

Open Computer Lab

Stop in to the computer lab on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to use the computers in the lab. Lab visitors are limited to 30 minute sessions when there is a wait for a computer. There is no fee to use the computers as long as you are an up to date member or caregiver. Membership IDs will be checked periodically to ensure members are up to date. The computer lab is made possible by the generous donations from UnitedHealthcare. 

Pump up your Brain

This exciting brain exercise is designed to keep older adult’s brains sharp and healthy. Participants engage in brain teasers, puzzles, and visual illusions. Take home hand-outs are available to exercise your brain at home! This group meets Fridays from 1 to 2:30 p.m. in Activity Room #1.   FREE TO MMC MEMBERS. 
There is a nominal printing fee charged in class to cover the cost of printing materials. Please note this class is designed for members who can engage in independent learning.

PUSH - Pray Until Something Happens

 Pray Until Something Happens (PUSH)  is a group that comes  together to pray with a different prayer focus each week as well as prayer for individuals who want prayers. All are welcome to come in to pray with worship music in the background.  The group will meet every Friday morning from 9:00 am until 9:45 am in Activity Room #5.   All are welcome.  If you have any questions,  please contact Myra McNair at (302) 346-3691. 

NEW - “Creating Generational Memories,” Art Classes with Dee Winfield

Join in on the fun of being in touch with your creative abilities by creating artistic memories for family, friends and loved ones. We all can create, and in this class for beginners, intermediates, and advanced artists. You can let your creative juices flow as you produce wonderful pieces of art in varying categories, using the medium of your choice, such as oils, acrylics, pastels, and different drawing materials such as pen & ink, drawing pencils and charcoal. So, let go of your hesitations, fears and intimidations and catch up with your dreams to create by joining this fun and instructive art class and free your mind and imagination as you explore new, wonderful, and creative art pieces. The class will meet the first and third Tuesday of the month beginning July 5, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. until noon. Students must provide their own supplies, including a table easel. A list of supplies is below or at Member Services. The cost is $10 per class for MMC members and $15.00 for non-members. Please register at Member Services. Registration begins June 1, 2022.
The instructor for this class is working artist, Dee Winfield, who is a figurative artist specializing in portraits. Ms. Winfield is a retired art instructor after 20 years teaching design foundation at one of New York's premiere art schools.
