Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese experience to balance the mind and body by allowing Chi or Energy to flow through the body smoothly using deep relaxed breathing, gentle stretches and movements, and a clear focused mind.

With its slow and flowing Tai Chi movements to its fast and powerful Wushu moves, this form has become very popular. A prerequisite is that students must have already participated in one of Ran's Tai Chi classes.

Instructor Mara Ormond teaches a mixed style Hatha Yoga tradition called Svadhyaya Yoga; focusing on flexibility and strength in the spine, abdominals, neck, hips, and legs.
Mara Ormond is a certified and insured yoga instructor. She began practicing yoga while serving as a Peace Corps volunteer in Senegal, West Africa. Her intention for her students is that they are safe from injury, enjoy the experience and that they learn at least one thing that is practical to them in a useful way.
Betsy's Body Friendly Yoga is taught by Betsy Gustafson who is well-known in the community from teaching exercise classes for over 25 years. Betsy is a certified group exercise instructor, yoga and Pilates instructor and certified personal trainer. She is also a senior exercise specialist.
Participants can be brand new to yoga or have previous experience. Betsy encourages your body to improve from its current capability to a better level. The class includes standing poses, seated poses, and may include the use of chairs to enhance capability. Classes end with a relaxation segment for participants to leave feeling renewed and refreshed. Yoga is known for enhancing the strength and flexibility of the muscles in a gentle and effective way. It can improve posture and balance, and reduce stress. Non-members welcome.
Designed for beginners of Tai Chi or those who have had trouble learning complicated Tai Chi forms. It emphasizes the health benefits for mind, body, and spirit, yet is fun, varied and relaxing to learn.
Zumba is a fusion of Latin and International music that creates a dynamic, exciting, and effective fitness system. Instructor: Ida Kirkendoll
Join in the fun every Friday at the Wellness Center pool for a lively game of volleyball from 2 to 3 p.m. Cost is only $2 a day or a 24 visit punch card is available for $48 at MMC Member Services.
Learn self-defense, stay fir, improve balance and reflexes, and stimulate your mind with Tae Kwon Do. Designed with older adults in mind, learn self-defense skills while improving your physical strength with this form of martial arts. Led by John Cloyd, a 9th degree Black Belt and martial arts instructor of 48 years. Classes meet Wednesdays from 5 to 6 p.m. in Activity Room 10. Cost for an eight week session is $50 for MMC members or pay a drop in fee of $8 per class (fee is $70 and $12 for non-members respectively). Register at MMC Members Services. Attire is comfortable work-out clothes and sneakers, Students should also bring a water bottle and towel to class.

Arthritis Friendly Aquatic Classes
The Wellness Center is happy to announce Arthritis Friendly Aquatic Classes. If you are unable to commit to a full session of aquatic classes or want to be able to do gentle exercises in a relaxed environment, purchase an Arthritic Friendly pool pass and join in, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 3:15 - 4 p.m. The punch card allows you more flexibility to choose when you feel able to participate.
